PRESTONPANS POTTERY: A Definitive Study of Scotland's Heritage - Prestonpans was the acknowledged centre of the Scottish pottery industry in the 18th century led by the Cadells, Gordons and Watsons. That tradition was carried through until the 1930s latterly by three generations of Belfields. Whilst utilitarian and household pottery was created so too were some of the finest majolica, figurines and porcelain. This outstanding artistic and industrial heritage is often overshadowed by the town's strong coal mining traditions which survived until the 1960s. This scholarly work sets the record straight.
