ST BONIFACE CHURCH, ORKNEY: Coastal Erosion & Archaeological Assessment - St Boniface Church, Papa Westray, Orkney is one of the most important Iron Age sites. Its excavation was undertaken due to serious coastal erosion and results reveal major shifts in its core function: from early ecclesiastical site to fish-processing station, to modern graveyard and church. This report aims to develop a methodology which would be cost-effective in tackling other, similarly exposed sites and will be of immense value to anyone involved with rescue archaeology.
