HENRY VIII'S SCOTTISH DIPLOMACY 1513-1524: England's Relations with the Regency Government of James V - The period, replete with royal intrigue and human drama, was a crucial one. Henry VIII believed the time to be propitious for annexing his northern neighbour, therebyn bringing a centuries old design to fruition. Had he succeeded, not only English and Scottish history would have been changed, but that of the continent, where Henry's hand would have been strengthened. How and why his machinations failed is the subject of this study.
